Laughing Waters is a single-storey wooden lodge in Chillaton, Devon. It's down in its own little valley, so it's very quiet. You can hear a stream running by.
It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating. It's clean and comfortable, but it's not a luxury hotel. It's more like a good, practical base.
You park at the top of the slope. There are steps down to the lodge. They're not difficult, but you need to be aware of them if you have trouble with steps. The inside is all open plan, except for the shower room. The bed is at one end and the sitting area at the other. There's a well-fitted kitchenette for making simple meals.
Outside, there's a veranda with seating. It's a sun trap in the afternoon. You're completely private there.
The location is very rural. The village has a shop and a pub, both about a ten minute walk away. For a bigger shop, you'd drive to Tavistock, which is about fifteen minutes.
You're right on the edge of Dartmoor. You can be up on the tors in less than twenty minutes by car. For walking, it's perfect. Dartmoor National Park has all the maps and information. Lydford Gorge is a twenty minute drive and well worth a visit.
You can get to the north coast, like Bude, or the south coast, like Plymouth, in about forty minutes. Cornwall is close too. The Tamar Valley is right there.
It has parking, a washing machine, TV, and all bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.
