Escape to this delightful, Pullman style railway carriage sighted overlooking the old Nidd Valley railway line that runs through the owner’s farm. The carriage is perfectly positioned enjoying panoramic views of the stunning surrounding countryside. The Flying Yorkshireman has many reclaimed railway items including the four handles, luggage rack, lamps, signs and much more. Making your way over the decking, admiring the stunning views as you pass, enter this unique railway carriage to find an open-plan layout which offers a plush double bed, authentic train table to sit and socialise and eat, kitchen area with all necessities to make breakfast and a meal should you not wish to dine out in the many eateries in Pateley Bridge, with every thought being put into the quirky design and interior fittings. Adjacent to the open plan area is the bathroom complete with a shower cubicle. At the end of each day, spend some time sat out on the partially covered decking or shall we say ‘platform’ taking in the beautiful dales countryside making a beautiful backdrop at any time of year.
This is very much a retreat from life, at night there is little light pollution so star gazing is amazing, and you can hear nothing at night but the owls and the occasional fox bark. A network of paths go through the owners working farm with a river and forest and higher land perfect to explore, it really is a walkers paradise. If you don’t fancy cooking, then head over to Pateley Bridge which is within walking distance from the cottage along the river and enjoy a glass or two of your favourite holiday tipples and some delicious pub grub or wander down the high street where there are many shops, cafes, pubs and independent shops. The market town of Masham is 10 miles away and, further afield, the cathedral city of Ripon is 40 minutes or the stylish spa town of Harrogate a 45-minute drive. Nearby National Trust attractions include the magnificent Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal near Ripon and Brimham Rocks in Summerbridge.
