Searchlight Cottage
Searchlight Cottage is near Bridlington, between Fraisthorpe and Bempton. It's a detached, single-storey bungalow. It was built for the people who manned a searchlight during the war, which is where the name comes from.
It sleeps two, one bedroom and one bathroom. The rating is 3 Star, which is about right. It's comfortable and clean, not luxurious. It's been modernised but we kept the old range cooker in the living room. It works, but most people use the electric oven next to it. The woodburning stove works well.
The place is on a working farm. You're surrounded by fields. It's very quiet. The RSPB say there are over 100 types of birds on the land. There's a pond you can fish in if you want.
A footpath from the cottage takes you straight down to the beach at Fraisthorpe. It's about a twenty minute walk. It's a long, sandy beach. You can walk for miles.
Bridlington is about ten minutes away by car. Flamborough Head is a bit further. The RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs is close. You can see the puffins in season. Beverley is about half an hour's drive, York is about an hour.
There's an enclosed garden with a patio and a barbecue. On-site parking. Washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. One well-behaved dog is allowed.
