Wildflower View is a shepherd's hut in Gembling. It's in the grounds of the old village school, which is our house. It's detached, so it's just you out there.
It sleeps two. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's clean and comfortable, but it's small. That's the point of a shepherd's hut. The bed is a kingsize, raised up a bit so you can see the fields from it. The table folds down from the wall. The shower is a proper one, but the toilet is one of those old-fashioned high-level cistern ones. You pull a chain.
Outside, there's a patio area with a BBQ. The garden has a patch of wildflowers, which is nice in summer. There's a hot tub. You can park right next to it.
You're about five miles from the coast at Barmston. It's a good beach for a walk. Bridlington and Hornsea are maybe twenty minutes by car if you want fish and chips or a proper promenade.
For walking, the Yorkshire Wolds start just inland. The market town is Driffield, about ten minutes away for shops. Sledmere House and Burton Agnes Hall are both within half an hour if you like grand houses.
Further afield, you can get to York in under an hour. Malton is about forty-five minutes. Castle Howard is just past there.
Facilities are all included: bedding, towels, electricity. There's a TV. No pets, sorry. We've got another property on site too, so a group could book both.
