The Old Barn

The Old Barn used to be a stable. It's about two hundred years old. We converted it a while back. It's just for two people.

It's in Wansford, in a tiny hamlet of three houses. You come down country lanes to get here. It feels quite remote once you're in, but you're not cut off. It's quiet. You can see fields from the windows.

It's got one bedroom and one bathroom. Everything is on the ground floor. It's wheelchair accessible, the doors are wide and there's a level shower. There's parking right outside.

The place has a three star rating. That means it's comfortable and clean, not luxurious. You get WiFi, a TV, and bedding and towels are included. There's space to store bicycles if you bring them.

You can bring up to two dogs. They'll like it here.

If you like wildlife, this is a good spot. We're in the middle of what they call Yorkshire's Wildlife Triangle. You can see hares in the field. You might hear owls at night. Flamborough Head and Bempton Cliffs aren't far if you want to see seabirds. There's a wetland about a mile away with water voles and sometimes otters.

The nearest pub and shop are in Nafferton village, about two miles away. Driffield market town is about ten minutes by car for a bigger shop.

You're about half an hour from the coast. There are good beaches for dogs. Bridlington and Flamborough are that way. Beverley is a nice town to visit, maybe twenty minutes away. It's got a minster and nice shops. York is under an hour if you fancy a day out there.

For walking, the Yorkshire Wolds are right here. The paths are quiet. You can find a good walk from the door. Cyclists like the lanes around here too, they're mostly very quiet.
