The Loft is out in Rotsea in the East Riding. It's a big, detached barn conversion on its own grounds. It sleeps twenty one, which I know is a specific number. There are nine bedrooms and nine bathrooms, all en-suite.
It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's well-equipped and comfortable, but it's not a hotel. It's a big, functional space for a group. You get your own enclosed garden, which looks out over the paddocks. You'll often see deer and foxes out there.
There's an indoor heated swimming pool on the estate that guests can use. It's private, so it's just for the people staying in the cottages here. There's also a shared games room and a kids' play area outside.
The location is quiet, about four miles from the village of Brandesburton. There's a shop and a pub there. The area is mostly farmland and new woodland. If you like water activities, there's a river and a lake very close by. Fishing and canal cruises are on the doorstep.
The coast is about a twenty to thirty minute drive. Bridlington, Scarborough, and Filey are the main resorts. They have the classic sandy beaches, promenades, and all that. For a good walk, Flamborough Head is worth it for the cliffs and seabirds. Robin Hood's Bay is further up the coast for fossil hunting.
Inland, the Yorkshire Wolds are right there for walking or cycling. Beverley is about twelve miles away; it's a nice market town with a minster and cobbled streets. For a longer day out, York is under an hour's drive. Sledmere Hall is about half an hour away if you fancy a stately home.
Facilities wise: everything's included. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV, bed linen and towels. There's a cot and highchair. We allow up to three dogs. Plenty of parking on site.
A few links if you're planning: Welcome to Yorkshire for general ideas, and the RSPB at Bempton Cliffs is near Flamborough.
