Ladysmith is out near Brandesburton, in the East Riding. It’s a detached old farmhouse. You’re pretty much in the middle of fields out here, which means it’s quiet and the views are good from all the windows. At night, with no streetlights, you can see a lot of stars.
It sleeps twelve, with five bedrooms and three bathrooms. It’s got a 4 Star rating. Two of the bedrooms are en-suite. One of them, Sulphur Cosmos, has a freestanding bath in the bedroom itself, looking out over the fields. Another, Fairy Toadflax, has a little sunroom attached. The stairs are typical for an old house, so they turn and are a bit steep in parts.
There’s a decent sized kitchen, a separate utility room with a washing machine, and a downstairs loo. The dining room and living room have enough chairs for everyone. We put in a games room with a pool table and a dartboard, which is useful if the weather turns.
The garden is fully enclosed. There’s a patio with a hot tub and seating. It’s a safe space for dogs or kids to run about.
You’re three miles from the nearest pub, shop, and restaurant in Brandesburton. The seaside at Hornsea is about nine miles away. It’s a traditional promenade and beach sort of place.
Within half an hour you’ve got some good historic houses if that’s your thing: Sledmere House, Burton Agnes Hall, and Sewerby Hall. The Yorkshire Wolds are right there for walking. If you want to go further, Hull and Beverley are easy to get to.
In terms of what’s here: bedding and towels are included. There’s a cot and highchair. The kitchen has a dishwasher. You can bring up to three dogs. There’s parking for several cars on the drive. The entrance is level and wheelchair accessible, but just to be clear, the bedrooms and main bathrooms are all upstairs.
