Farriers Lodge is on our stud farm in Tophill Low. It’s a converted barn. Detached, so it’s just you. The render on the outside is made with hemp from our fields, done the old way. It’s a working farm, so you’ll see horses about.
It sleeps seven in three bedrooms. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, which is handy. The stairs are open-tread, made from steel. They’re safe, but if you’ve got very small children you’ll want to watch them.
Inside it’s one big open room downstairs. There’s a wood burner. The kitchen has what you’d need. Upstairs the ceilings are vaulted, so it feels quite spacious.
Outside there’s a small courtyard with seating and a private hot tub.
If you have dogs, you’re welcome to bring them. We can also stable your own horse if you want to bring one. You’re free to look around the farm and see the horses.
The village of Brandesburton is about three miles away. It has a shop, a couple of pubs that do food, and a restaurant. For the coast, Fraisthorpe Beach is about six miles. It’s good for walking dogs or riding. Hornsea is a traditional seaside town, about a twenty minute drive.
Beverley is a nice market town, maybe twenty-five minutes by car. It has independent shops and the racecourse. Driffield is closer. For birdwatching, RSPB Bempton Cliffs is about half an hour away. Spurn Point Nature Reserve is a bit further, maybe forty minutes.
Facilities are all there: wifi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. We provide a cot and highchair if you need them. There’s parking right outside.
If you’re coming in the colder months, there’s a £25 fuel supplement for the week, payable to us before you arrive. We also ask for a £100 security deposit, which you get back afterwards.
The cottage can be booked together with The Old Forge next door if you’ve got a bigger group.
