Broad Leaf

This is Broad Leaf. It's out at Rotsea, near Brandesburton. It's a conversion from an old barn, one of a few grouped together around a courtyard. They kept a lot of the original stone.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, which helps. The rating is 4 Star. It's comfortable, not just basic. The main thing is the space. It's a good size inside. You get your own enclosed garden that looks out onto paddocks. We see deer and foxes out there.

The stairs are wooden and a bit uneven. They're original, so they have that. Just mind your step.

You get to use the owners' indoor heated swimming pool. It's shared with the other cottages but it's rarely busy. There's also a communal games room and a kids' play area outside.

The area is quiet. Mostly fields. A shop and a pub are about four miles away in Brandesburton.

The coast is a fifteen to twenty minute drive. Bridlington, Filey, Scarborough. All the usual seaside stuff. Flamborough Head is good for a walk and seeing the birds. The RSPB have a reserve at Bempton Cliffs nearby. For something different, Burton Agnes Hall and Sledmere Hall are both about half an hour away. York is under an hour.

Stuff you get: Washing machine, dishwasher, TV, WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside. You can bring up to three dogs. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.

For planning, the Visit Yorkshire site is useful, and the National Trust for the big houses and coastline.
