Barn Owl

Barn Owl is one of the cottages on the Newhouse Barton site just outside Ipplepen. It's converted from an old farm building, like the others here. The setting is quiet, just fields and lanes.

It sleeps eight in four bedrooms. There are three bathrooms, which helps with a bigger group. It's got a 5 Star rating. That means it's well finished and has everything you'd need.

The main thing is the shared facilities on site. There's a heated indoor swimming pool, which is Roman-style, so it's a proper length for a swim. There's a games barn with a pool table and table tennis. Outside, there's a fenced play area for young children. It's a traffic-free site, so kids can run around.

The cottage itself has an enclosed garden with a patio and a barbecue. Inside, there's a wood burner, a dishwasher, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's an electric vehicle charger on site. You can bring one dog.

Ipplepen village is about a mile and a half away. It has a shop and a couple of pubs that do food. For a bigger shop, you're about ten minutes from Newton Abbot or Totnes.

Totnes is a good place to go. It's got a castle, interesting shops, and you can get boats from there. Dartmouth is about twenty minutes drive. It's a proper naval town with a castle, boats, and places to eat along the river.

The coast is easy to get to. Goodrington and Paignton are about twenty-five minutes. They have classic seaside things. For something quieter, try Blackpool Sands or Slapton Sands, which are a bit further.

Dartmoor is twenty minutes north. Good for walking. You can visit places like Haytor or just drive up and see the ponies.
