Pendle View is in Rathmell, near Settle. It’s a terrace cottage that sleeps four. I thought the name was a bit odd at first, as Pendle Hill is over in Lancashire, but you do get a decent view of the fells from the back.
Inside, it’s open plan downstairs. The kitchen and dining area are all one space. Upstairs is the living room, which is a bit different. It’s got patio doors that open out onto a small decked area. There’s one double bedroom and the main bathroom on that floor too. Then there’s another flight of stairs up to the second bedroom. That one’s quite big. It has a super king bed that can be split into two singles if you need it, and there’s an extra single bed in there as well.
The cottage has a 4 Star rating. It’s got everything you’d need: wifi, TV, parking. Bedding and towels are included. There’s a washer. The garden is just a patio with that decked bit off the living room. It’s not huge, but it’s yours.
Rathmell itself is quiet. There’s a village hall and that’s about it. Settle is a couple of miles away. That’s where the shops are, a few pubs, and the train station if you fancy getting the Settle to Carlisle line. It’s a proper market town.
You’re right on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. You can walk straight out into the fields. For a decent walk from the door, you can head up towards Scaleber Force waterfall. It’s about an hour and a half round trip.
By car, you can get to a lot in under half an hour. Malham Cove and Gordale Scar are about twenty minutes south. Ingleton and its waterfalls trail are twenty-five minutes north west. The Ribchester Roman Fort is just over half an hour south, if you fancy a bit of history.
No pets, I’m afraid.
