Reed View

Reed View is a shepherd's hut on the edge of the marsh, just off the River Waveney. It's on its own, so it's private.

It's really for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well looked after, but it's still a hut. The water comes from a private supply, so it's fine to drink but we leave a couple of bottles in the fridge just in case you notice the taste.

You've got your own enclosed deck out the front with a table and chairs. Good place to sit with a drink in the evening. The view is over the fields and reeds towards the river. You'll see herons, hares, that sort of thing. There's a small kitchenette with a hob and a combi microwave. Does the job for simple meals.

The village pub, The St Olaves Inn, is about a five-minute walk down the lane. They do good food. The local boatyard hires out day boats if you fancy messing about on the river. You can walk along the footpaths by the water from the hut.

Beccles is the nearest proper town, about ten minutes by car. It's got a Co-op, some nice shops, and a lido for outdoor swimming in summer. For the coast, Lowestoft and its beach are fifteen minutes north. Southwold is about forty minutes. Norwich is around forty-five minutes if you want a city day.

Facilities: there's a washing machine in the utility shed next to the hut, bedding and towels are included, WiFi works okay, and there's parking right next to it. No pets.
