The Shank is in Belton, Norfolk. It's a wooden lodge, part of the Fairway Lakes Village. It overlooks the Caldecott Hall golf course, which is big, about 400 acres. The lodge sits right on the edge of the Norfolk Broads. It's detached, so you've got your own space.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, and two bathrooms, which is handy. It has a 5 Star rating. That means it's well equipped and comfortable. It was built to be environmentally efficient, things like water-saving showers. They encourage recycling.
The living area has a telescope for looking at the stars or across the golf course. There are some games and a beanbag for kids. Outside, there's a hot tub. You can sit in it and look out over the fairways.
On the site, you can use the Barnworks Fitness and Spa, which has an indoor heated pool. There are two 18-hole golf courses. The clubhouse serves hot food. You can fish in the lakes, it's catch and release, but you need to ask permission first. The Redwings Horse Sanctuary is there too, you can visit the horses.
The local pub is about a mile away. The nearest shop is three miles. There's a restaurant on the golf course site.
For days out, Great Yarmouth is the traditional seaside resort, with all that entails. Norwich is the city, it's got the cathedral and shopping. The Norfolk and Suffolk heritage coasts are within reach for a day trip. The market towns of Beccles and Bungay are quaint, as they say.
Facilities include a washing machine, dishwasher, BBQ, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right there. The entrance is wheelchair accessible. No pets, sorry.
