Hallowarren Barn is on my family's land in Carne, about a mile from Gillan Creek. It's our old threshing barn that's been converted. The garden is shared with me, but it's big and private-feeling, with a small stream running through it. There's a bench over a little bridge if you want a quiet spot.
The barn sleeps six, with three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Two bedrooms have their own ensuite. It's got a 4 Star rating, which is about right. It's comfortable and clean. It's an 18th-century building though, so some doors and beams are low. Watch your head.
You're right by the water here. There's a slipway onto the Helford River at St. Anthony-in-Meneage, about a mile down the lane. You can hire a boat there. For a walk, the South West Coast Path is close by. Fishing is local and simple, straight from the shore in places.
Falmouth is a half-hour drive for bigger shops, the maritime museum, or the ferry over to St Mawes. The Lizard peninsula is about twenty minutes if you want to see the very tip of the country. For a garden day, Trebah or Glendurgan are nearby and worth a visit.
Facilities are all there: washing machine, dishwasher, wood burner, wifi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking. You can bring up to two dogs. We provide a cot and a highchair.
