Bucks Cottage is a traditional and comfortable Grade II listed cottage that is within walking distance of the coast and enveloped by lush green woodland within a valley. The accommodation comprises three lovely bedrooms on the first floor: two doubles and a twin plus a bathroom with shower attachment. Downstairs is an additional shower room with WC and a living room with Smart TV and a cosy multi-fuel burner set within a fireplace, a separate dining room with a second burner in a lovely Inglenook fireplace and a kitchen with everything you’ll need for your holiday including a dishwasher, washing machine and a breakfast bar.
Outside you can enjoy the gorgeous and private surroundings in the wonderful lawned garden with patios and furniture – a truly lovely place to unwind. Off street parking is available for two cars. Bucks Mills is a small hamlet conveniently located not far from the A39 Atlantic Highway. It is the perfect place for those seeking raw natural atmosphere and coastal scenery including views out towards Lundy, Clovelly and Peppercombe. You can enjoy the woodland, river valley and cliff top which leads down dramatically to the beach. It is an ideal location for artists, photographers and families to explore and take in the pure atmosphere which has been largely untouched by the 21st Century.
The cottage is 17 miles from the regional capital town of Barnstaple with its many cafés and restaurants, Theatre, multi-screen cinema, leisure centre, tennis centre with indoor and outdoor courts and an indoor trampoline centre. The popular port town of Bideford which sits on the Torridge estuary is just 8 miles away. North Devon is famed for its fantastic natural attractions such as Exmoor National Park with its magical night skies in Europe’s first ’Dark Sky Reserve’, the many rugged coastal towns and quaint villages such as Lynton & Lynmouth, Ilfracombe and the world-famous Clovelly Village, all with awe-inspiring scenery. If stunning beaches are your thing, then the region will leave you spoilt for choice with Saunton, Woolacombe, Croyde and Westward Ho!, all within easy reach by car.
The fantastic Southwest Coastal Path runs through the region’s rugged coastline and is perfect for walkers and view seekers offering 90 miles of stunning walks. The popular Tarka Trail can be accessed nearby and provides the unique opportunity to follow a disused railway line on foot or by bicycle allowing you to enjoy some of Devon’s finest countryside and river scenery which will take you through places like Fremington Quay & Yarde with their excellent cafés, Instow with its estuary beach and view towards the lovely fishing village of Appledore through to Bideford, Barnstaple and beyond. For a day with a difference why not take a trip across to Lundy Island, home to England’s first statutory Marine Nature Reserve due to its unique flora and fauna? Measuring just 3 miles by ¾ mile, this entire island has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest and trips regularly depart from either Bideford or Ilfracombe.
