Turnip House is my cottage in Allonby. It's a small village right on the Solway coast. The view looks across the water to Scotland.
It sleeps three people. There are two bedrooms and one bathroom, plus a separate loo downstairs. The stairs are cottage stairs, so they're fairly steep.
It’s a 4 Star place, which mostly means things are in good order. It’s clean and comfortable. You have a courtyard area at the back for yourselves. There's also a shared garden.
Allonby beach is just down the lane. It's a long, sandy beach, good for a walk. You can swim if you're brave – the water's not warm.
There's a pub in the village. It's a two minute walk. They do food. The nearest shop is in Maryport, about three miles away.
If you want to go further, the northern Lake District is about a 25 minute drive. Keswick and the edge of Derwentwater are within half an hour. Cockermouth, where Wordsworth was born, is 15 minutes away.
Facilities wise, it has what you'd expect: a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV, and parking on site. Bedding and towels are included. We allow up to two dogs.
