The bustling market town of Chesterfield is nearby, packed with plenty of independent shops for a spot of retail therapy, as well as the local markets where you can browse specialist stores and local produce. Explore the impressive 14th-century church, renowned for its crooked spire. Or head to the lush Queens Park where you can savour a homemade picnic next to the lake, before taking a stroll where you will pass the summer bandstand, a museum and theatre, which frequently hosts live performances.
Just a little further is Matlock, home to the Pic Tor War Memorial which boasts impressive views at its top.
