The Briars

Located in a small Derbyshire village of Oakerthorpe, The Briars is a cosy holiday apartment on the ground floor of the owner’s home, popular with walkers, and perfect as a base for exploring the wonderful scenery of the surrounding Derbyshire Dales and Peak District National Park. Oakerthorpe has a number of walks around the village and nature reserve, and a selection of traditional pubs including one which dates back to the 11th century and is reputed to be the oldest in the county of Derbyshire. The town of Alfreton is just 2½ miles away with a good selection of shops and restaurants together with wonderful examples of 18th century architecture. Crich, with its Tramway Village, can be reached in 10 minutes, and just 15 minutes away is Matlock with its monthly farmers’ market and cable car over the Derwent Valley. Chesterfield with its famous crooked spire and the magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth House, Hardwick Hall and Haddon Hall can all be reached in half an hour. Shop 1¼ miles, pub and restaurant 50 yards.
