Poppy Cottage is a beautiful, stone-built, end-terrace cottage situated right in the very centre of the beautiful Derbyshire town of Matlock in the Peak District National Park. Situated a stone’s throw from the wonderful Hall Leys Park and off the main road, the cottage is a quiet, relaxing place to stay. The cottage features a snug, open plan living/dining area with the all-important wood burner for those chilly evenings. The kitchen houses modern features and appliances, as does the family bathroom. Upstairs you will find two bedrooms, the master with a comfy kingsize bed and the second with a set of adult size bunk beds. Outside the rear of the property, you will be able to sit in a small courtyard area with a lovely glass of something after a hard day exploring all that this wonderful location as to offer.
Positioned at the centre of Matlock, you can find everything you could need just a short stroll away; from riverside cafés to enticing tea rooms, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to cuisines, as well as there being a wide selection of shops to browse for a day of retail therapy. The popular Peak District town of Matlock, together with its neighbour, Matlock Bath, have been attracting visitors to the area since the spa was developed in the late 17th century.
Nearby Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Peak District Mining Museum is a must if you are with little ones, and magnificent views down the gorge can be enjoyed from the cable car which takes visitors up to the Heights of Abraham – a great place for all the family with its show caves, nature trail, water gardens and owl maze. Go south of the town and you will find the start of the well-known High Peak Cycle Trail, whilst a short drive away is the National Tramway Museum at Crich. To the north is the market town of Bakewell, and Chatsworth House and Park, whic is not to be missed! Pub and restaurant 400 yards.
