Completed in late 2022, Pickwood Gatehouse is a comfortable, energy-efficient property planned from conception as a holiday home in the centre of Leek Conservation Area. It has been architecturally designed in consultation with specialist planners so the design, bricks, stonework, doors, windows and roofing is in keeping with the historic and architectural details of this medieval market town where many spectacular silk and textile mills built during the industrial revolution.
Leek is in the Peak District and leaving the town and entering the National Park Area gives access to 555 square miles of ’Living Landscape’ of which 202 square miles is open for walkers without having to stay on footpaths, but even so there are 1600 miles of public rights of way. Nearby walks to Hens Cloud, Lud’s Church, the Roaches and Rudyard Lake are a few of the very rewarding choices available.
The location is ideal to explore the town on foot, with its delicious restaurants, pubs, cafés and shops. You are just over 10 miles from Alton Towers theme park and there is an abundance of local walks to enjoy.
Enter the property into the light and airy living room with comfortable seating and a large TV, a sofa bed to cater for two guests and a separate toilet. The kitchen is open plan with the dining area with a door into the back garden with a fire pit and BBQ. It is equipped with all you should need during your stay with seating at the table for six guests. Upstairs is a family bathroom, a double bedroom, and a twin bedroom. Each bedroom also has a wardrobe, a chest of drawers, a desk large enough for two people to work, and two desk chairs.
