The Cow Barn

The Cow Barn makes the perfect base for families or two couples who are wanting to explore beautiful Staffordshire, with its wonderful attractions, scenic walks directly from the doorstep and gastro pubs. Set down a secluded wooden lane close to Alton Towers and within the owners’ grounds, this converted barn makes the ideal retreat for those seeking a relaxing break in a rural setting. The property boasts modern interiors and furnishings, along with a beautiful high ceiling with skylights. Once entering the barn you will walk into a boot room/utility area, and then into the large open plan entertaining area with kitchen, dining area, cosy sofas and a modern wood burner. Both bedrooms have sumptuous beds, one boasts an en-suite shower room, and there is a wonderful bathroom featuring a freestanding bath. Outside you are greeted by a private courtyard with furniture, making a tranquil spot from which to enjoy your morning coffee or cold glass of something at the end of an exciting day!

The rural village of Alton lies on the western fringes of the wonderful Peak District National Park, in beautiful moorland countryside between the market towns of Leek and Ashbourne. The village has a local post office, village store and lovely pubs serving fantastic food to enjoy. Walking and cycling is excellent in this area with miles of woodland trails to enjoy. Close by you will find the thrilling Alton Towers theme park for the adrenaline junkies amongst you. Dovedale and the limestone Churnet Valley are also right on the doorstep, and the Manifold Way is also close by. From The Cow Barn you have easy access to many of the area’s attractions, including Chatsworth and Haddon country estates, Lyme Park, as seen in the TV drama ’Pride and Prejudice’ and Ilam Park to explore. This really is the ideal place from which to enjoy a wonderful break at any time of the year. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant ¾ mile.
