Fern Cottage

Fern Cottage is a one-bedroom place in West End Town, Northumberland. It's fine for two people. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped.

The layout is all on one level, which is good if stairs are a problem. There's an open plan kitchen and living room. It has a multi-fuel burner, which keeps the place warm. Outside at the front there's a bench that sits two.

The location is the main thing. You can walk straight out onto Barcombe Fell from the door. It's a heather-covered hill with good views. On a clear day you can see Hadrian's Wall and the Pennines. Barcombe Quarry is nearby too.

Bardon Mill village is close and has a train station on the Newcastle to Carlisle line. Haydon Bridge is about four miles east for shops. Haltwhistle is a bit further and has more facilities, including a sports centre and an outdoor pool. They call it the centre of Britain.

You're well placed for history. The Roman fort at Vindolanda is a short drive away. Hadrian's Wall is all along here. Allen Banks, which is a National Trust valley, is also nearby. There's a local pub about a mile away.

Facilities: it's got a washing machine, WiFi, TV, and parking on site. Bedding and towels are included. The entrance is wheelchair accessible. One well-behaved pet is allowed.
