Joseph's Hide is a shepherd's hut in my garden in Haltwhistle. It sleeps three with a triple bunk bed. It's got a 3 Star rating. It's compact and cosy, not really for spreading out.
You get to it by four steps up to a stable door. Inside, it's all one room. There's a wood burner, a small kitchen area, a TV and a shower room. The stairs to the top bunk are a bit of a ladder, so you need to be sure-footed.
Outside, there's a deck with a table and chairs. It looks out over the garden and fields. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
Haltwhistle town centre is a ten-minute walk. There are a couple of pubs that do food, a small supermarket, and a leisure centre with a pool. The train station is there too, with links to Newcastle and Carlisle.
You're right on the edge of Hadrian's Wall country. The Wall itself is a few minutes' drive away. The Roman forts at Vindolanda and Housesteads are about ten minutes by car and are well worth a visit.
Within half an hour you can get to Kielder Water for walking and cycling, or into the Northumberland National Park. The Dark Sky Park is up that way too.
