Bardon Mill Waiting Room

Bardon Mill Waiting Room is exactly what it says. It used to be the waiting room on the station platform. The Newcastle to Carlisle line runs right past the front windows.

It sleeps three. There's one bedroom with a double bed and its own shower room. Then there's another separate bathroom too. Everything's on the ground floor. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well looked after.

Because it was a waiting room, it's one big open space. Lots of windows, so it's light. There's a wood burner at one end and an open fire at the other. It can get a bit cool when a train goes past in winter, but the fires soon sort that out.

You can bring up to two dogs. The garden is enclosed.

There's a hotel that does meals about a minute's walk away, and a little shop that's a coffee shop too. For more, Haydon Bridge is four miles one way and Haltwhistle about the same the other way. Hexham is eleven miles east.

You're right in the middle of Hadrian's Wall country. You can drive to see bits of the Wall, or you can get on the train at the platform. It stops every couple of hours. You can be in Newcastle in under an hour or Carlisle in about the same. The Lake District is also within driving distance for a day out.

It's got parking, WiFi, a dishwasher, and a cot if you need one. Bedding is included.

For planning days out, these sites are useful: English Heritage Hadrian's Wall, Northumberland National Park, and Visit Northumberland.
