Granary Cottage is in Melkridge, just outside Haltwhistle. It's part of a group of five cottages converted from old farm buildings. You're on your own, but there are neighbours in the other properties.
It sleeps four in two bedrooms and has one bathroom. It's a 3 Star place, so it's clean and comfortable but not luxurious. The main thing is the view. It looks straight out over open fields. You get a private patio with those patio doors to sit out.
It's very rural. You're about a mile from Hadrian's Wall itself. The road past the cottage is the B6318, the old military road, so it's easy to get to the wall sites. Vindolanda Roman Fort is about a ten minute drive. Housesteads Roman Fort is maybe fifteen minutes.
Haltwhistle is the nearest town, about three miles. It's got shops, pubs, a supermarket. For a bigger shop or the railway station, Hexham is about a twenty minute drive.
The cottage is set up to be eco-friendly. Dogs are welcome, we allow two. There's a wild grass meadow for them opposite the cottage. Just be mindful of livestock in the surrounding fields.
Facilities are what you'd expect: TV, washing machine, parking right outside. We provide a travel cot and a highchair if you need them. Bedding is included.
