William's Hide is a shepherd's hut in our garden in Haltwhistle. It's on the edge of town, so you're a five minute walk from the shops but you're looking out at fields.
It sleeps three in one room. There's a triple bunk bed. It's a 3 Star place. It's small and tidy, not a fancy hotel. You access it by four steps up to a stable door. The space is open plan, with a kitchen area, a table, chairs, and a wood burner. The shower and toilet are in a separate small room attached to the back.
There's a deck outside with a table and chairs. It gets the sun in the evening. You can park on the drive.
Haltwhistle has a couple of pubs that do food, a small supermarket, and a few cafes. There's a leisure centre with an outdoor heated pool, which is open in the summer. You can get the train from here to Newcastle or Carlisle if you don't want to drive.
The main thing here is Hadrian's Wall. It runs right past the town. You can walk to it from the hut in about twenty minutes. The Roman forts at Vindolanda and Housesteads are a short drive away and are worth a visit. Northumberland National Park starts just to the north.
Facilities: the hut has a wood burner, a TV, WiFi, and a compact kitchen with a hob and fridge. Bedding and towels are included. One well-behaved dog is welcome. There's no washing machine in the hut, but we can usually help out if you need one.
