Lambley Farm-Ghillies
This is Lambley Farm Ghillies. It's a cottage on our farm here in Lambley, Northumberland. The place sleeps three. It's got two bedrooms and one bathroom. We've got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well looked after.
The cottage is on a working farm, so you'll see cattle and sheep in the fields. The farm is about 90 acres, so it's quiet. You're about 50 yards from the South Tyne river. We have fishing rights, so you can fish for trout and salmon if you book it in advance. There's a charge, it depends on the time of year for the salmon.
It's one of a few barns we've converted into cottages. They're all done to the same standard, with oak floors and things like that. You can book more than one if you've got a bigger group coming.
Facilities: you've got your own enclosed garden with a patio and a BBQ. There's parking right outside. Inside there's a washing machine, WiFi, and we can provide a cot and highchair if you need them. We take up to two dogs.
For things to do, you're well placed. You're right on the edge of the North Pennines. The North Pennines National Landscape site has good information on walking routes. The South Tyne Trail runs past the farm. Hadrian's Wall is about a 30 minute drive north. The National Trust looks after some of the best bits there, like Housesteads Fort. The city of Newcastle is about an hour's drive if you need to go in for something.
