Orchard House is on Lambley Farm, near Alston. It's one of a few cottages here, all converted from barns on the property. You're right on the South Tyne river. There's fishing if you want it, but you need to book that and there's a fee.
It sleeps up to twelve people, in five bedrooms and four bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. Everything's in good order, with wooden floors. You get the place to yourselves, but there are other cottages nearby, so sometimes other guests are around. They can be booked together if you've got a bigger group.
You're on a proper farm, so it's very quiet. The views are out over the fields and down to the river. There's a garden area with a patio and a barbecue.
Inside, it's got the things you'd need: a dishwasher, washing machine, space for parking right outside. We can provide a cot and a highchair.
You can bring two dogs. They'll need to be kept on a lead outside because of the livestock.
For things to do, you're right on the edge of the North Pennines. It's good walking country straight from the door. Hadrian's Wall is about half an hour's drive north. The city of Carlisle is a bit further, maybe forty minutes. Hexham is a bit closer, that's a nice market town with the abbey.
