Hillside Cottage is in Haltwhistle, Northumberland. It's a detached stone cottage, so it's on its own. Sleeps four, two bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating, which is accurate. It's comfortable and well looked after.
The place has a wood burner. There's a coffee machine, and robes and slippers are provided. The garden is enclosed, which is handy if you have a dog. We allow one pet. There's parking right there.
You're about 500 yards from a decent pub. The shop is a bit further, maybe 700 yards. Haltwhistle calls itself the centre of Britain. It's a small town, good for a pint or fish and chips.
The main thing here is the location for Hadrian's Wall. It's about three miles to the Wall itself. You can walk to it from the cottage if you're keen. The Roman forts at Housesteads and Vindolanda are within a 20 minute drive. Sycamore Gap, the tree from the film, is along there too.
For walks, you're on the edge of the North Pennines and right by the North Pennines AONB. The Pennine Way passes through. Hexham is a 15 minute drive, it's a nice market town with an abbey. Corbridge is about the same distance, it's a Roman village with some shops. Kielder Water and Forest is about half an hour away if you want to go that far.
Inside, it has the basics: dishwasher, washing machine, wifi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. The entrance is wheelchair accessible, but the cottage is on different levels inside so check with us if that's important.
