Stable Cottage is near Melkridge, on a farm. It's a single storey, ground floor cottage, so no stairs at all. It's part of a small group of cottages around a yard.
It's a 3 Star place, which means it's clean and comfortable, not luxury. It sleeps two, with one bedroom and one bathroom. The main door is full-length glass, so the living area is bright. It looks straight out over fields.
You have your own patio. The view is the main thing. It's just open countryside.
You can bring two dogs. There's a wild grass meadow for them and you're welcome to use the big field opposite for walks.
It's about a mile from Hadrian's Wall. You can walk to it from the cottage if you don't mind a good trek. For more structured visits, the National Trust Housesteads Fort is a few miles east. The whole area is part of the Northumberland National Park.
Within half an hour you can get to Hexham, which has a big supermarket and an abbey. The market town of Haltwhistle is closer, about ten minutes by car. Kielder Water and Forest Park is also within that drive if you want big skies and dark skies.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, TV, parking right outside, and a cot and highchair if needed. Bedding is included. There's a local pub a couple of miles away.
Stable Cottage can be booked with the other cottages here if you're coming in a bigger group.
