Howburn Log Cabin is in Melkridge in Northumberland. It's a detached wooden lodge. It sleeps four people. There are two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's well-equipped and comfortable.
The cabin is solar powered. It has a wood burner in the living area. There's a patio and garden with a BBQ. It's a rural spot, so you get proper peace and quiet. There's on-site parking.
You should know the cabin is near the Newcastle to Carlisle railway line. You can hear the trains. They're not constant, but they do go by. A steep path goes up behind the cabin. The view from the top is good, but be careful.
The River Tyne is a short walk away. There are nice riverside and woodland walks from the door. This stretch of the Tyne is known for salmon fishing if that's your thing.
You're on the edge of the Northumberland National Park here. Hadrian's Wall is very close. You can walk to Vindolanda Roman Fort and the Sill Discovery Centre from here. Sycamore Gap is a short drive away. Haltwhistle, which claims to be Britain's geographic centre, is about a mile away. It has shops, pubs, and a sports centre with an outdoor pool.
Hexham is about a 15 minute drive. It's a good market town with an abbey, shops, and places to eat. Corbridge is another 10 minutes or so beyond that. The Lake District is roughly an hour's drive if you fancy a day trip.
Facilities wise: bedding and towels are included. There's a Smart TV with Netflix, WiFi, a washing machine, and a highchair if you need one. No pets allowed.
