Howburn Log Cabin

Howburn Log Cabin is near Haltwhistle in Northumberland. It's a detached wooden lodge, set back from the road. It sleeps four in two bedrooms and has one bathroom. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's well-equipped and comfortable.

The main thing is it's solar powered and has a wood burner in the living area. There are leather sofas and a large TV with Netflix. The rooms are warm and the beds are good. It's got its own garden area with a barbecue.

The cabin is on the edge of some woods and fields. There's a steep path up the hill behind it, which isn't for everyone, but the view from the top over the river is very good. You can walk down to the River Tyne in a few minutes. The owner fishes for salmon there, and you can get day tickets online if you want to try it.

You're right on the edge of the Northumberland National Park. A short walk gets you across the A69 and into it. The Roman sites are all close by. You can walk to Vindolanda Fort and the Sill Centre. Sycamore Gap on Hadrian's Wall is just along there too.

Haltwhistle town is about a mile walk. It's got shops, a few pubs, a sports centre with an outdoor pool, and they say it's the geographic centre of Britain. Hexham is about a 15 minute drive. It's got the abbey and a lot of shops. Corbridge is another 10 minutes from there, good for a wander and a coffee.

The Newcastle to Carlisle railway line runs past the front. Bardon Mill station is nearby if you want to get the train. The A69 is right there, so it's easy to get around by car. The Lake District is about an hour's drive. The Scottish borders are closer than that.

Facilities: there's parking, WiFi, bike storage, a highchair, and bedding and towels are included. No pets. The local pub is about a mile away.
