Tackroom Cottage is a one-bedroom place near Melkridge. It’s for two people. The main thing is the view. You get long doors at the front of the living room that look straight out over the fields. There's no other house in the way. Some evenings, you can just sit there.
It's all on ground level, so no stairs. There's a small private patio with a table outside. The cottage is part of a small group of four holiday lets. It's clean and straightforward. It's got a 3 Star rating, which feels about right.
It’s very dog-friendly. You can bring two. There’s a big wild grass meadow right next to it for them to run in, and you can walk straight into the field opposite. You’ll hear curlews up there.
For location, you’re about a mile from Hadrian’s Wall. That’s walkable if you’re keen. It’s right in the middle of that whole area. You can drive to Housesteads Roman Fort in about ten minutes. Hexham is maybe twenty minutes away for shops. Kielder Water and Forest is about half an hour’s drive if you want to go that way.
