Harsondale Bothy is a single storey building on our farm in Langley. It sleeps two. It's got one bedroom up on a mezzanine and one bathroom.
It's a 4 Star property. That means it's well equipped and comfortable. The restoration kept things like the oak beams and the stone fireplace. There's a wood burner. The kitchen is small but it has what you need.
The bedroom is up a ladder staircase on the mezzanine. The ceiling up there is low because of the beams. You need to mind your head. The shower is good.
Outside, there's a private patio area with a table and chairs. The view is over our fields and the woods. It's quiet.
You're on a working farm, so you'll see sheep and maybe tractors. We allow one well-behaved dog. The garden is enclosed.
The local pub, The Cart Bog, is about a twenty minute walk. Langley Castle is three miles away. For a walk, the John Martin Heritage Trail starts right by the bothy. Allen Banks and Staward Gorge is a Victorian garden in a woodland gorge. It's looked after by the National Trust and is very popular.
Hexham is under ten miles. It's a proper market town with shops, a supermarket, and an abbey. The Northumberland National Park, including Hadrian's Wall, is about twenty minutes by car. You can visit Roman forts like Housesteads and Vindolanda from there. The coast, like Tynemouth, is about an hour's drive.
Facilities include parking, WiFi, a TV, and a wood burner with an initial supply of logs. Bedding and towels are included. There's storage for bikes.
