Harsondale Bothy

Harsondale Bothy is on our farm near Langley. It's just for two people. The rating is 4 Star, which means it's comfortable and well looked after.

It's one room really, but the bed's up a ladder on a mezzanine. You need to be okay with a ladder to get up there. The ceiling is quite low up by the bed too, so you have to mind your head. Downstairs is all open plan, with a wood burner, a small kitchen area, and a sofa. The bathroom is through a sliding door and has a good shower.

You're on a farm, so it's quiet. The view from the door is over our fields and some old woodland. There's a patio with a table and chairs to sit out.

The local pub, The Cart Bog, is about a twenty minute walk. Langley Castle is a few miles down the road if you want to look around.

For walking, you can pick up the John Martin Heritage Trail right from the gate. Allen Banks and Staward Gorge is lovely, it's a National Trust woodland garden along the river. It's about a fifteen minute drive. The River Allen is closer, just down the lane, if you fancy a paddle.

You can drive to the Northumberland National Park in about twenty minutes. That's where Hadrian's Wall is. Hexham's the nearest proper town, about twenty minutes by car. It has shops, an abbey, and places to eat.

In terms of what's here, there's parking, the wood burner, an enclosed garden bit, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring one dog.
