This is Chesterwood Bastle. It's on our farm just outside Haydon Bridge. The building itself is very old, around four hundred years. It's a 'Bastle', which was a kind of fortified farmhouse. You can see the original stone and beams.
It's for two people. One bedroom and one bathroom, both are on the ground floor. The living area, kitchen and that sort of thing, they're all upstairs. It's got a wood burning stove up there which is nice in the evenings. It has a 4 Star rating.
You're welcome to bring one dog. There's a bit of garden you can use that looks over the fields. The farm is working, so you'll see sheep and maybe tractors about.
Haydon Bridge village is a short walk away. There's a shop and a couple of pubs. The nearest proper supermarket is probably in Hexham.
For history, you've got Hadrian's Wall all around here. Housesteads Roman Fort is about a twenty minute drive. Hexham Abbey is fifteen minutes. If you like walking, the Northumberland National Park starts just to the north. The coast, like Seahouses and Bamburgh Castle, is under an hour away.
It has the things you'd expect: parking, a washing machine, a dishwasher, TV. Bedding is provided. Useful links if you're looking into things to do: National Trust Hadrian's Wall and Northumberland National Park.
