Glendale Mews

Glendale Mews is a place I run near Haltwhistle. It’s a detached stone cottage that sleeps two. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it’s comfortable and well-equipped.

It’s all on the ground floor, which is handy. The doorway and layout is level so it works for wheelchair users. The shower has a seat.

You get the place to yourselves, but my family and I live on-site in the old farmhouse up the drive. We're there if you need anything.

The main thing here is the space. You've got over eleven acres of private woodland and grounds to wander through. There's a picnic spot in the trees, a pond, and the hens. There's also a public footpath access.

You can book the indoor heated swimming pool for private sessions. It's not a huge complex, it's just for you when you book it.

Facilities are straightforward: a dishwasher, washing machine, TV, WiFi, parking, and a small patio with a BBQ. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. One well-behaved dog is welcome.

Location wise, we're just north of Haltwhistle on the B6318. The nearest shop and pub are about a mile and a half away in the town.

You’re right on the edge of the Northumberland National Park here, and inside the International Dark Skies Park. The stars are very good on a clear night.

Hadrian's Wall is within walking distance. You can get to the Walltown Craggs and Cawfield sections easily. The Roman sites at Vindolanda and Housesteads Fort are a short drive away. So is Steel Rigg and Sycamore Gap. The Once Brewed Visitor Centre has EV charging points.

Within half an hour you've got Kielder Water and Forest for sailing and walking, and the National Nature Reserves at Muckle Moss and Greenlee Lough. Hexham is about a 40-minute drive. For a city day, Newcastle is under an hour.
