Y Dorlan
Y Dorlan is just outside Cardigan, on the lower part of the River Teifi. It's a big lodge, built about fifteen years ago. The driveway is long, you come down past fields.
It sleeps fifteen. Seven bedrooms, five bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating, which is about right. It's well looked after.
The main things are the indoor swimming pool and the sauna. They're in a separate building next to the house. The pool is heated. There's also a hot tub on the terrace overlooking the river.
The garden goes down to the riverbank. It's enclosed. There's a built-in barbecue and a giant outdoor draughts set. And yes, there's a helicopter pad. We've had a couple of guests use it.
Inside, the main thing is the spiral staircase in the entrance hall. It's open-tread, so you need to be careful with small children. Some of the bedrooms look straight out over the river.
Cardigan town is about two miles away. It's a normal Welsh market town with shops, pubs, and a castle. The castle is worth a look. Cardigan Castle has the details.
You're right between three counties here. The coast is about ten minutes drive. Good beaches like Poppit Sands and Mwnt. The Welsh Wildlife Centre is practically opposite, across the river. It's good for a walk.
For a longer walk, the Ceredigion Coastal Path is easily accessible. Inland, you've got the Preseli Hills about half an hour away.
Facilities: everything on the list is there. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, bedding and towels included. There's a cot and highchair. Plenty of parking. No pets, sorry.
