Y Dorlan

Y Dorlan is in Cardigan, Ceredigion. It's a big, detached lodge near the River Teifi. You come down a private drive past some paddocks to get to it. The garden goes down to the river bank.

It sleeps fifteen people. Seven bedrooms, five bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's a luxury property, so it's well kitted out.

The main thing is the space and the facilities. There's an indoor swimming pool and a sauna. There's a games room. Outside, there's a large built-in barbecue, a hot tub on the sun terrace, and a big enclosed garden. There's even a helicopter landing pad, though that's more of a curiosity for most.

The stairs inside are a feature. They're a large, open-tread spiral staircase in the hallway. They are steep and open. Just something to be aware of.

Cardigan town is a couple of miles away. It's a proper market town with shops and places to eat. The castle is there and has been done up. It's worth a look if you like history.

The location is good for exploring. You're right between three counties: Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and Carmarthenshire. The coast is about ten minutes by car. The Ceredigion coastal path is spectacular for walking. The Welsh Wildlife Centre is just over the river. For marine wildlife, the Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre is in New Quay, which is about a 25-minute drive.

For a wider day out, the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is within half an hour. So are the Preseli Hills inland.

In terms of facilities, it's got everything: WiFi, TVs, a dishwasher, washing machine, bike storage. Bedding and towels are included. They can provide a cot and highchair. There's plenty of on-site parking. No pets, sorry.
