Middle Byre
Middle Byre is on our farm in Girthon. It used to be for the cattle, but we converted it a while back. It sleeps six.
There are three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. That's quite handy, I think. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable. The walls are thick stone, so it's quiet.
You're on a working farm, so you'll see us and the animals going about. We're around if you need anything. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you have dogs. We take two.
Gatehouse of Fleet is the nearest proper town, about five minutes in the car. There are shops, a couple of pubs that do food, that sort of thing. The coast is about a mile and a half away. You can drive to a few different beaches from here quite easily.
If you like walking, you can start right from the door. There are forest tracks and paths down to the water. For cycling, the 7Stanes routes are big here. There's storage for bikes if you bring them.
It's a good spot for getting out. You can be at the Cream O' Galloway ice cream place or the chocolate factory in about twenty minutes. Forestry and Land Scotland has all the details on the 7Stanes trails. Cardoness Castle, which is run by the National Trust for Scotland, is just outside Gatehouse.
Inside, it's got what you'd expect: a washing machine, dishwasher, Wi-Fi. The TV has satellite. All the bedding and towels are included.
We've got a few other cottages here too, so if you're coming with a bigger group you can book them together.
