Sliver Birch

This is Silver Birch. It's one of four lodges here on the farm. It's detached and you get your own bit of garden.

It sleeps four, two bedrooms, and it's got two bathrooms. That's handy. It's a 5 Star place, so it's comfortable and in good order. Everything's on one level, which is useful for some.

The main thing is the view. The front is mostly glass, so you look straight out over the fields to Wigtown Bay. You can see it from the sofa. It's a working farm, so you'll see tractors sometimes.

Gatehouse of Fleet is about two miles away. It's a small town with a shop, a couple of pubs that do food, and a chip shop. The Mill on the Fleet is a visitor centre there if you're interested in the local history.

The coast is close. Mossyard beach is a few minutes in the car. It's good sand. For a bigger day out, Kirkcudbright is about a twenty minute drive. It's got a proper harbour and galleries. They call it the artists' town.

If you like walking or cycling, you're in the right spot. The Galloway Forest Park is on your doorstep for trails. It's also a Dark Sky Park, so if you get a clear night, the stars are something else. For activities, Laggan Outdoor has things like the zipwire.

Inside, it's open plan. There's a dishwasher and a washing machine. Everything's included, bedding, towels, the electricity. You can bring up to two dogs. The parking is right outside the lodge.
