The Bothy
The Bothy is near Gatehouse of Fleet, on a working farm. We live next door in the farmhouse. It's a semi-detached conversion, part of a small group of cottages here.
It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating. It's clean and comfortable, not luxurious. The conversion is a bit quirky in places, which gives it character.
You're right in the Girthon Valley. The views from here are very good. You can walk from the door into the woods. The coast is about a mile and a half away.
The town of Gatehouse of Fleet is a few minutes' drive. It's a nice little place. There's a shop, a couple of pubs, and places to eat. Cardoness Castle is there if you're interested in that sort of thing.
For things to do, you're well placed. There's good cycling from the door, including the 7Stanes routes. Fishing on the local lochs and rivers is popular. Galloway Forest Park is nearby for walking and dark sky spotting. The 7Stanes website has all the bike trail details.
Facilities: there's an enclosed patio area, parking, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can store bicycles. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
