Carin Dyke

This is Carin Dyke. It's one of four lodges on our arable farm, near Gatehouse of Fleet. The main thing is the view. It looks straight out over Wigtown Bay to the Isle of Man. You get that from the big windows in the living area and from the decking outside.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's a 5 Star lodge, so it's well finished and comfortable. Everything's on one level and the doorways are wide, so it's suitable if you use a wheelchair. There's a woodburning stove for cooler evenings.

You're on a working farm, so you'll see tractors and such going past sometimes. The lodges are detached, so you have your own space. The garden is enclosed. There's parking right outside, and an electric vehicle charger.

Gatehouse of Fleet is about two miles away. It's a small town with a shop, a couple of pubs, and places to eat. The Mill on the Fleet is a good visitor centre.

The coast is close. Mossyard and Carrick beaches are sandy and about a ten minute drive. For walking, you've got the Southern Upland Way and the coast path. The Galloway Forest Park is about half an hour away. It's a Dark Sky Park, so the stars are good on a clear night. It's also central for the 7Stanes mountain biking at Kirroughtree and Dalbeattie.

Further afield, Kirkcudbright is about twenty minutes by car. It's an artist's town with a nice harbour. Castle wise, you've got Cardoness nearby. Threave Gardens is about thirty minutes’ drive.

In the lodge you'll find a dishwasher, washing machine, TV, and wi-fi. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and a highchair. Sorry, no pets.
