Bengali is a bungalow outside a village called Ringford, in Dumfriesshire. It's detached and sits on its own plot. We had it built to be accessible, so it's all on one level and doorways are wide. There is a step up into the shower.
It sleeps eight people. There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms, so it works for a couple of families or grandparents with the family. You don't need to bring bedding or towels.
There's a games room with a full-sized pool table. The top comes off so you can use it for table tennis, we leave the bats and balls in there. The living room has a woodburning stove. We leave a stock of logs for you.
Outside there's a patio garden with some furniture. You can park right beside the house.
The area is quiet. You're about four miles from the nearest shop, pub, or beach. So you do need to drive. Castle Douglas is the main town nearby, about a fifteen minute drive. It's got good food shops. Kirkcudbright is a bit further, maybe twenty five minutes. It's a nice harbour town with galleries.
For days out, the Galloway Forest Park is about a thirty minute drive. It's good for walking and dark sky spotting. The Threave Garden estate is near Castle Douglas. The Solway coast is close for beach walks, like Sandyhills.
You can bring up to two dogs. We have a cot and a highchair if you need them. There's wifi, a washing machine, and a dishwasher.
