The Carriage is what it says. It's a converted railway carriage near Bridge of Dee, in the old station siding. It's detached, which means you get it to yourselves.
It sleeps four in three bedrooms. Two are doubles, each with its own shower room. The third is a bunk room, good for kids. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean but not high-end. Everything you need is there.
There's a decent lawned garden with furniture and a BBQ. Parking is right there. There's a washing machine, towels and bedding are included, and you can bring up to two dogs.
It's quiet, with fields around. The nearest shop, pub, and restaurants are about three miles away in Castle Douglas. Castle Douglas is a good market town with proper butchers and independent shops.
You're well placed for the area. Kirkcudbright, which has a lot of artists, and Gatehouse of Fleet are a short drive away. The Solway Coast is close for walks and beaches. For a bigger trip outdoors, Galloway Forest Park is about an hour's drive. It's a Dark Sky Park, so the stars are good on a clear night.
