The Old Sunday School

The Old Sunday School is in Dalbeattie. It's detached, but it's next to our house. We converted it a while back, it used to be where people went to church on Sundays and the ground floor was for animals. It's old, built in 1793, but it's warm and dry.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. One has a walk-in shower, the other a bath. It's got a 4 Star rating, which is about right. It's comfortable. There's a woodburning stove for cooler evenings, and the wifi works.

The garden is enclosed, so it's safe for kids. There's parking. We leave bedding and towels.

You're out in the country here. The pub is about three miles away. The shop is two and a half.

The coast isn't far. Sandyhills Bay is a good beach, about a fifteen minute drive. The cycle network and the Seven Stanes routes go nearby if you're into mountain biking. For walking, there's the coast path or you can go inland to the hills. Loch Ken is about twenty minutes away for water sports.

Castle Douglas is the nearest proper town, about a twenty minute drive. They've got good food shops and cafes. Dumfries is about half an hour.
