Fairview is in Rockcliffe, on the Solway coast. It's a semi-detached house. You're about a hundred yards from the beach, which is sandy and gentle for paddling. The front rooms look straight out over the bay towards Rough Island.
It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's a 4 Star, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. The garden wraps around two sides. It gets the evening sun, and you can see the sunset from there.
The village is a conservation area, so it's quiet. There's a tea shop for coffee and cake. The nearest shop and a restaurant are a mile away, the pub is two miles. You can launch small boats from the beach if you have one.
For walking, you've got the forest and coast right there. Dalbeattie Forest is close by, which has the 7stanes mountain bike trails if that's your thing. The National Trust's Rough Island bird sanctuary is out in the bay. You can walk to it at low tide. The RSPB Mersehead and WWT Caerlaverock reserves are a short drive if you like birdwatching.
Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbright and Gatehouse of Fleet are the main local towns for pottering about. They're maybe twenty minutes or so by car. Screel Hill is a good local climb, and Criffell is a bit further.
Facilities: it's got what you'd expect. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking. It's family friendly, we've got a cot, highchair and stairgate. You can bring up to two dogs.
