The Snug is on the edge of Dalbeattie. It's a terraced cottage, one of a row. We finished renovating it in 2022, so everything inside is new.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both on the first floor. They're both doubles and each has its own bathroom with a shower. The stairs are standard.
Downstairs, there's a kitchen with a dining area, a living room with a wood burner, and a utility room with a back door. The back door opens into a small, enclosed courtyard. It's fully fenced, which is good if you have dogs. We allow up to two.
Dalbeattie has the basics: a Co-op, a couple of pubs, a butcher, a pharmacy. The nearest proper beach is about a fifteen minute drive, at Sandyhills or Rockcliffe. The coastline here is the Solway Firth. It's more rocky coves and inlets than long sandy beaches, but it's very quiet.
The main thing here is the outdoors. The Seven Stanes mountain bike trails in Dalbeattie Forest start about a mile from the door. They're serious routes. For walking, you can get straight onto forest paths from the town. There are several golf courses nearby, including one at Colvend, about ten minutes away.
Within half an hour you can be at Threave Garden, which is National Trust for Scotland. Or you can drive into Kirkcudbright, which is a proper little artists' town with a harbour. Castle Douglas is about twenty minutes for bigger supermarkets.
Inside, it has the things you'd expect: WiFi, a TV, a dishwasher, a washing machine. All the bedding and towels are included. The rating is 4 Star, which reflects the fact it's all recently done up.
