Forge Mill Cottage
Forge Mill Cottage is in Dalbeattie. It's detached, down a quiet lane beside the river. You get the whole place and the garden to yourselves.
It sleeps three. There are two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean. It's not a show home.
The layout is a bit different because it's converted from old mill buildings. The kitchen and bedrooms are on the ground floor. The sitting room is upstairs. That's so you get a better view of the river from the big window. The stairs are fine, just a normal flight.
The garden is the main thing. It's on both sides of the little mill stream and goes right down to the Dalbeattie Burn. There are a few different spots to sit. We've seen herons and dippers. People have mentioned spotting kingfishers and red squirrels, but that's down to luck.
You can walk into Dalbeattie town centre in about ten minutes. There's a pub and a restaurant about half a mile away. The local shop is in the town.
If you like cycling, the Dalbeattie Forest 7Stanes trails are very close. They're properly good, built for mountain bikes.
The coast is about five miles. Kippford and Rockcliffe are nice little villages on the Solway Firth. You can walk between them on a National Trust for Scotland path. Rockcliffe has a sandy beach.
Inside, it's got what you need: a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside. No pets, I'm afraid.
