Forge Mill Cottage
Forge Mill Cottage is in Dalbeattie. It's on the edge of town, right by the river in a wooded bit. It's detached, so it's just you and the garden. The place sleeps three. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating.
The layout's a bit different. The living room is upstairs. That's so you get the view from the big window. The stairs up to it are fairly steep. Downstairs there's a kitchen with a dining area and the bedrooms. It's not huge, but it's fine for three people.
The main thing is the garden. It's got the Dalbeattie Burn running past it and a mill lade running through it. It's peaceful. We've seen herons and dippers. People have spotted kingfishers and red squirrels too, but that's just luck. You can sit out there.
You can walk into Dalbeattie town centre. There's a pub and a restaurant about ten minutes walk away. The town is popular with walkers and cyclists. The Dalbeattie Forest has the 7Stanes mountain bike trails if you're into that.
The coast is about a fifteen minute drive. Kippford and Rockcliffe are nice little villages on the Solway Firth. You can walk between them on a National Trust for Scotland path. Rockcliffe has a sandy beach.
For facilities, it's got what you'd expect. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking on site. Sorry, no pets.
