Anvil
The Anvil is an apartment for two people near Dalbeattie. It's one of three cottages converted from old mills, set right by a small river called the Dalbeattie Burn. You're in a quiet, wooded valley.
The apartment has one bedroom and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well looked after. It's open plan inside. The main view is of the river from the windows.
Outside, there are shared gardens that run along the river. They're nicely done and feel quite separate. You can sit out there and you often see birds like herons and dippers. Sometimes you might spot a red squirrel or an otter.
For facilities, there's a washing machine, TV, and your bedding and towels are included. Parking is on site. We have storage for bikes if you're bringing them. Sorry, no pets.
Dalbeattie town is close. It's a small place but has the basics, including a local pub. For a bigger shop, Castle Douglas is about a 20-minute drive away.
If you like walking or cycling, you're in a good spot. There are paths right from the door. The Dalbeattie Forest has the 7Stanes mountain bike trails, which are very well known. The Solway Coast is nearby too, with beaches and little villages like Kippford and Rockcliffe. You can walk between those two along the Jubilee Path.
Within about half an hour, you can visit some good places. Threave Garden, which is National Trust for Scotland, is worth a trip. Caerlaverock Castle is an impressive historic site. The town of Kirkcudbright is also about a 30-minute drive and has a nice harbour.
