Treetops Log Cabin
Treetops is a new log cabin, up in the woods just outside Kippford. It's detached and very private, on its own bit of land. You get forest views from most of the windows.
It sleeps six, in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, one is an en suite with a bath. Everything is new, it was finished in 2022. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's well appointed and comfortable.
The main living area is open plan. There's a wood burner for cooler evenings. The kitchen is fully fitted. Big sliding doors open onto the deck.
Outside there's the deck with seating, a separate barbecue hut with a sauna, and a hot tub. You'll see birds and squirrels. Deer and foxes pass through as well.
It's about a half hour walk through the forest tracks down to Kippford and Rockcliffe. They're on the estuary. There are a couple of pubs there you can get a meal. The nearest shop is in Colvend, or Dalbeattie is four miles for a bigger supermarket.
The area is good for walking, cycling, or water sports if you have your own kit. There's golf nearby. For a day out, you've got the Galloway Forest Park for dark skies and stargazing, or you can drive to some of the sandy beaches along the coast.
Facilities: there's parking for a few cars, a washing machine, dishwasher, bedding and towels are included. The WiFi works. No pets, sorry.
