Brooksyde is in Kippford, on the Solway Coast. It's a detached house, so no neighbours on the other side of a wall. The gardens go all around it.
It sleeps six, with three bedrooms and three bathrooms. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's been done up to a high spec. Everything was refurbished in 2022. The beds are very comfortable.
There's a games room in a conservatory at the bottom of the garden, with a pool table and a woodburning stove. It's a good spot if someone wants a different space.
You can bring two dogs. The garden is enclosed, which helps. There's on-site parking.
The village has a pub and direct access to the coast. There's a good walk along a National Trust path from Kippford to Rockcliffe, which takes about half an hour. Rockcliffe has a sandy beach.
Castle Douglas is about a 15-minute drive. They call it the Food Town, lots of independent butchers and delis. Dalbeattie is even closer, just a few minutes by car. Kirkcudbright, which has a nice harbour and art galleries, is about a 25-minute drive.
For a wider day out, you're well placed for the Galloway Forest, which is known for dark skies. The National Trust for Scotland page for Rockcliffe has maps and information. The official Galloway Forest Park site is useful for planning.
