Brooksyde is a house in Kippford, on the Solway coast. It's detached, with a garden that goes around it. The garden has a nice table and chairs if the weather's good.
It sleeps six. There are three bedrooms and, usefully, three bathrooms so nobody's queuing. It's a 5 Star place, which means it was fully refurbished a couple of years ago. Everything is new, the beds are comfortable, and it's very well equipped.
Downstairs, there's a games room in the conservatory at the back. It has a pool table and a wood burner. The main house has underfloor heating, so you probably won't need the stove, but it's there.
The village is right on the water. You can walk from the door. There's a path along the shore to Rockcliffe, which is about a mile. It's a National Trust path and it's very pretty. The local pub is a few minutes' walk.
Castle Douglas is about a 15-minute drive. They call it a 'Food Town' and it's good for shops and cafes. Dalbeattie is closer, maybe five minutes by car. Kirkcudbright, which has a nice harbour and art galleries, is about half an hour away.
This part of Scotland is good for dark skies if you're into stargazing. The coast has beaches and cliff walks. Inland, there's forestry for walking or mountain biking. There's a golf course nearby. The facilities list is accurate: you've got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and parking on site. A cot and highchair are there if you need them. It's wheelchair accessible at the entrance and has a ground floor bedroom and bathroom. You can bring up to two dogs.
