Myrtle Cottage is down by Caulkerbush, in Dumfriesshire. It's part of a pair of semi-detached cottages on our small farm. You're about a mile off the public road, up a private drive. It's quiet.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. We take one dog. It's got a 4 Star rating because it's well-insulated and kept warm by a biomass boiler. You won't be cold.
The cottage is a restored granite byre with a wood cladding extension. There's a woodburning stove. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you've brought a dog.
The location is good for getting to things. Dalbeattie Forest, which has the 7 Stanes mountain biking, is about ten minutes' drive. The Galloway Forest Park, which is a Dark Sky Park, is within half an hour. The coast at the Solway Firth is close. Southerness lighthouse and beach are about fifteen minutes away.
Dumfries is twenty-five minutes by car. You can see Robert Burns' house and the Globe Inn there. For a walk by the coast, the RSPB Mersehead reserve is nearby.
We live next door. If we're feeding the animals or doing something on the farm, you're welcome to come and have a look. Just ask.
Facilities wise: there's a woodburner, a dishwasher, a washing machine, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. We provide a cot and a highchair. There's parking right outside.
