Myrtle Cottage

Myrtle Cottage is ours. It's a converted barn on our small farm in Caulkerbush, near Dalbeattie. You're about a mile off the main road up our private track, so it's very quiet. You'll see us about, but you have your own space.

It sleeps four in two bedrooms. Both bedrooms have their own bathroom, which is handy. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and warm. We've got a biomass boiler so the heating is on all year if you need it, no extra charge.

There's a wood burner in the sitting room. It's nice in the evenings. The garden is enclosed, so it's safe for a dog. We allow one pet. You can park right outside.

You're on a working farm. We've got sheep and cattle. If we're doing something like feeding the animals, you're welcome to come and watch, or even have a go if you like. Just ask. You'll often see roe deer and red squirrels around the place.

The location is good for getting out. Dalbeattie Forest, which is part of the 7 Stanes mountain biking, is about a ten minute drive. The Solway Coast is close. Sandyhills beach is about five miles away for a walk. The RSPB reserve at Mersehead is nearby if you like birdwatching.

For a day out, Dumfries is about twenty five minutes by car. It's got the Robert Burns connections if that's your interest. The Galloway Forest Park is about forty minutes north. It's a Dark Sky Park, so if you get a clear night the stars are incredible.

There's a shop, a pub, and a restaurant about six miles away in Dalbeattie. For anything bigger, you'll need to drive.

In the cottage you've got a washing machine, a dishwasher, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and a highchair.
